Artificial flowers
OBJECTS
My Mum thinks fake flowers are better than dead flowers and her house is full of them, neatly assembled in vases and perched on the surfaces of shelves, tables and cupboards in every room. They don’t need watered but do need dusted. My Mum used to use a hair dryer to get the dust off. I use a vacuum cleaner.

Even though they are regarded as tacky, creepy, artificial and depressing, I like them. They work in my Mum’s house, brightening up the rooms she likes dimly lit. They are fake but they make no pretence to be the real thing, which wouldn’t last long here.

This is Misty. My Mum sometimes calls sometimes calls her Posie, Rosie or Dosie. But always ‘my wee pal’.
